The Experiment That Failed — And Taught Me What Research Really Is

I was nineteen when I ran my first psychology experiment. It was for a class assignment, and I was convinced I was going to discover something brilliant. I had recruited twenty of my flatmates and coursemates, sat them down in front of a laptop, and asked them to complete a memory task while listening to either classical music, heavy metal, or silence.
